Week 7: October 14, 2016

Good afternoon Fabulous Staff,

This week I have felt a transformation! It is important to me that each of you are heard, when you speak! My hope is that the communication and transparency of our administrative team, is appreciated and well received. We all most be informed and we all hold value in the success of our school! I appreciate you all!

CONGRATULATIONS to Mrs. Rivers, our Special Educator Extraordinaire! She is our PTA Teacher of the Month! She gets to enjoy the luxuries of such an honor: VIP Parking, Extended Catered Lunch, Marquee Presentation, Recess Coverage and countless other surprises!! Well done Mrs. Rivers...your work and dedication is not in vain!

Housekeeping:
- If there is a PD scheduled on a Wednesday and we are unable to meet for our Data Reflection Meetings, please be sure to update your Data Reflection Form so that the monitoring of student progress continues. Special Education students are to be identified on the DRF if they have not met the benchmark, please refer to our discussions on Wednesday.

- Standard 7: Student Academic Progress: When you monitor the instruction of academic progress, ask yourself whether you are meeting or exceeding the standard.

Are you MEETING the standard?
Instruction results in documented continual academic progress or achievement of students, as shown by multiple measures throughout the school year. Sets measurable and appropriate achievement goals based on analysis of multiple measures of student performance data. Routinely monitors progress to set and adjust learning targets.  Adjusts instruction to promote increased student achievement.

Are you EXCEEDING the standard?
Instruction results in consistently high levels of student growth and documented achievement, as shown by multiple measures throughout the school year. Engages students in the development and monitoring of their individualized learning goals. Monitors student progress on a consistent basis and establishes individualized targets based on student performance data. Shares successful strategies with colleagues in or beyond the school.

Highlights of the Week:
- PGP Conferences are off to a great start! It is very important to equip staff with the tools to review and aggregate data, discuss and reflect, and plan and impact student learning. This is an opportunity for you to "stretch" your learning about our students, acquire new knowledge and develop learning experiences for our students to achieve at high levels! We are being intentional in our planning...in our instruction...in educating our students!

- Ms. Hanshaw, Thursday's ROP, exclaimed about our students and staff! Classroom procedures and routines were evident! Student engagement was at a high!

Students as Learners:
- In Ms. Mucica's class, a student informed me that he knows how to work smartly. "First I place out my pictures and sort them in a way that they are the same and then I glue them so I don't make a mistake!" I agree, he was working smartly!

- In P.E. I observed students being accountable and honest, great character traits, while participating in a Rolling Bowling activity.

- Students assisting their peers to remain on task...response-able behaviors exhibited.

- Students participating in cooperative groupings provided answers to their peers and did not rely on the teacher, solely. The answer is in the classroom and doesn't have to necessarily be from the teacher.
