Housekeeping: 
- Contracts were handed out today. If you were not in your room when I came pass or were out today, please stop past on Monday after 1:00 p.m. to obtain your contract and the ‘Criminal and Immigrant Contingency Clause.

-The Immigrant Contingency Clause is due to me by Thursday, June 8th. Thank you for your attention to this county request.

-Safety Inspection Items should be resolved. A walkthrough will be completed by the administrative team. Thank you for your immediate attention to these items.

-Due to the numerous moves required for the 2017-18 school year, we have decided to update to decrease the moves. Mrs. Slaughter will send out the updated map over the weekend! We believe that you will appreciate the 1st floor updates!

-No Leadership Team Meeting on Tuesday, June 6th. Flipped Staff Meeting will be sent out.

-School Supply Lists: Due
·         Each list should include school name, contact information, and grade level.
·         The total cost should not exceed $25.
·         Ensure a reasonable and realistic number of specific items (e.g., two 12-count box of pencils per student instead of 96 pencils per student).
·         Use generic descriptions rather than specific brand names to allow families to shop according to individual family budgets.
·         Cleaning, personal care, and first aid supplies like soap, sanitizer, tissues, wet wipes, paper towels, and band-aids should be purchased by the school.
·         Technology support equipment (e.g., headphones) should be purchased by the school unless they are needed for BYOD.

Highlights of the Week:
-Mrs. Portillo hosted a beautiful Safety Patrol party! It was well attended and full of excitement, thankfulness and appreciation! The had food, games and endless laughter! Thank you, Mrs. Kempf for being present and assisting! Well done!

-A huge “THANKS” goes to Ms. Marshall for her immediate support and attention to the million and one questions I had about the SMASH Assembly! She has planned and informed the staff, throughout this process…remaining organized and attentive to staff questions and need for clarification! Thank you.  

-2nd Grade will pilot Alternative Seating, as a grade level, for the 2017-18 school year. If your grade level is interested in implementing a research based model of instruction or instructional support, please submit your request (and research) to me for review.

Staffing Updates:
-We will be quite busy next week with interviewing for our vacancies; 4th grade (1), 5th grade (2), ED Teacher, ED TA, Autism Teacher and Autism TA. If you need to meet with me, at any time next Monday, Tuesday or Thursday please email or contact Mrs. Slaughter for my calendar availabilities.

-Best wishes to our staff members who will not be returning to Bel Air in 2017-18. They will be missed!
                Mrs. Ewing & Mr. Fain will continue their teaching careers in Fairfax County;
                Ms. Kemick & Madelyn will return to Pennsylvania.

-Internal Transfers:

Housekeeping: 
- Our students, identified for Expedited Retakes, are currently in the process of SOL Remediation. Please continue to provide encouragement and words of affirmation to all students. Once retakes begin, we will send out a school-wide reminder that we need ur SMARTBoard. Small group testing students are being disturbed or disrupted. If there are substitutes on your grade level or next to you, remind them that there are SOLs and the expectations during testing. We inform them at the front office but your support in reminding them is much appreciated. Thank you, in advance.

Important Bel Air Information/Action Items:
-2017 START UP FUNDS:
  1. Grade levels will need to submit orders as a grade level and not individually. 
  2. Specialists can submit individually. 
  3. There will be NO late turn-in.
  4. There will be NO carry-over funds. 
  5. Orders are due no later than June 9th. 

- Master Schedule Input: If your grade level is interested in changing your ENCORE and/or lunch times, Language Arts and/or Math blocks please let me know. I am welcoming input into the Master Schedule so please do so by June 2nd. This will give me time to work with a committee to finalize any changes and I can then push out the Master Schedule before school is out.

-Staff Check Out Procedures will be finalized and given on Wednesday, May 31st.

-Forming Classes: Memo has been sent to Team Leads on forming classes. Please adhere to the guidelines. Please share the schedule developed for finalizing the rosters by June 5th.

-Classroom Assignments were sent out today. If you would like to switch the room (within the grade level), let me know and I will update the map.

- School Building Openings for the remainder of the school year. The building will be open from 9-3 p.m. each day.
-          June 3rd & 4th, June 10th & 11th, June 17th & 18th

-Grade Level Supply Lists are due to Mrs. Slaughter by June 5th.

Leadership Opportunities:
-2017-18 Lead Teachers: I’m accepting input for Team Leads for next school year. If you are interested in being a Team Lead, please email me by Thursday, June 1st with the subject line: Team Lead.

Available Positions:
-The SACC office is energized about the 2017-18 school year. We are especially excited about the opportunity to impact the education of over 3,500 students across Prince William County who attend SACC and NG through our Educational Enrichment Component (EEC). The EEC teachers will help SACC and NG students with homework Monday through Thursday. At this time, there is a vacancy listed at your school. In order to fill this position, we need your support. Please review the job requirements and details below:
POSITION: School Age Child Care (SACC)/Next Generation (NG) Educational Enrichment Component (ECC) Teacher
REPORTS TO: AlphaBEST SACC Area Manager
LENGTH OF CONTRACT: SY2017-18 Elementary/Middle – September 11 through the last day of SOL/EOC testing window of the school year
SALARY: $39.00 per hour
REQUIREMENTS: Virginia Certification
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The SACC/NG EEC teacher is an AlphaBEST employee, paid on an hourly basis, five hours per week (which includes four hours of instruction and one hour of planning).

Highlights of the Week: 
- On Thursday our Kindergarten Team hosted a Kindergarten Parent Night! We had several parents attend and the majority of them were fathers! What a nice turnout of parents! Thank you Kindergarten for your organization, professionalism and excitement demonstrated tonight! A big thanks to Mrs. Portillo for translating for our parents, you are appreciated!
